There will be no further action on ID cards and all plans for a third runway at Heathrow have been abandoned.

Hurray for those two. It's almost enough to make me conservative (but not quite).

The next step, of course, is to cut the deficit by cutting government spending. What is the government spending money on that it needn't? Two obvious things: Trident and the war in Afghanistan.

I don't think anything could ever induce me to vote conservative, but I'm happy to applaud when they get things right.
