Paella

I came away from an afternoon in Manchester thinking, "Naah, I don't want a city centre appartment after all."  Five years ago this was my fantasy, but now I'm older, tireder, frailer.

We bought most of our Christmas presents. Also a pumpkin. Also some fish. The fish stall in the market was amazing- all those varieties, all those goggle-eyes; they even had a small shark.  We bought a little packet of miscellaneous off-cuts- which I shall shortly be turning into a paella or pie.

We parked behind Piccadilly Gardens and I pushed Ailz down to the Arndale, where she had reserved the use of a scooter. I thought I knew central Manchester, but if had been left to my sense of direction I'd never have found the car again. Ailz doesn't know her East from her West- and I do- but her homing instinct is much more highly developed than mine.

She does jigsaws online. I was watching her last night. "Here," I said. "I can do one of those a lot quicker than that". So I tried. Her time: 16 minutes. My time: 36.

Carl and his family were in the audience for Most Haunted Live - at the Winter Gardens, Morecambe- last night. I watched the first two and a half hours in the hope of spotting them- but didn't. I don't know who the show's current medium is, but he's is a nervous, mumbly, little man who makes very little impression. "O my Wells and my Acorah, long ago!"

I love reading your posts. They resonate with me. I have all these dreams about living in places, and as I get older, I wonder if they will remain that -- dreams from another time period. oh, I must be up and travel soon because I don't know in what shape I shall be in later.

I am always amazed at the English acceptance of mediumship. I do wish wehad that here.

Ahaha! This, too is the story of our life!

I like my house on the outskirts of the Big City. It's such a hassle to go into town sometimes.

Jigsaws online are my downfall. I can spend hours doing them.

I have timed myself against Ailz on the Jigzone puzzles - she is WAY faster than I am, and I have been doing these puzzles daily for over five years.
Have a nice Samhain, or Halloween, whichever you choose to call it. I, too, shall...

Thanks.

I don't think the English people as a whole are more accepting of mediumship than Americans are. You produce TV programmes very similar to Most Haunted- Ghost Hunters for example.

I love jigsaws. Now the night's are drawing in I'll be selecting one from my collection and setting it up on the big table in the front room.

Thanks.

We're having a very quiet evening at home. We didn't get any trick or treaters last year and it doesn't look as if we'll be having any this year either.

You, too? I have a similar collection and a table I reserve for puzzles.

Ours tend to be for 15 year old boys who like things that go bump and them BAM in the night. Not a gentle little nudge here and there.

So what are Ailz's favourite online jigsaw sites? I saw Jigzone mentioned, which I also indulge in from time to time. Does she use any others? I'm always looking to increase my online collection. :-)

There's nothing very gentle about Most Haunted. An awful lot of screaming and bleeped-out bad language goes on.

Is that on your television?

Yes. It's a very popular show.

Ah, humans are humans all over the world, I guess. Like those things that scare the bejeepers out of them.

The fish stall you went to if it was on the indoor market is owned by my cousin Anthony.

Jigzone is her favourite, but she also does the daily jigsaw on the Daily Mail site.
