Alice's Book Signing

They'd put Alice at a little table in the back room- or the front room if you enter the store by way of Bowling Green Street- with the biographies beside her and a carousel full of Mr Men books behind her. Prominent on the biography shelves- at Alice's elbow in fact- was a CD of David Niven reading The Moon's A Balloon- which Alice and I listened to together- back in 1991- coming back from a holiday in Switzerland. It seemed like a happy omen.

Ailz and I arrived after she'd been at her post for about an hour. Most of the business had happened as soon as she opened her stall, but friends and supporters kept dropping by- including a journalist from the Leicester Community Hub who filmed a short interview with her which is now up on YouTube .  We talked a little with Lucy Gibbs, the therapist who took Al on the first of her life between lives regressions. She knows Dr Newton (the Life Between Lives man) and says he's really sweet and kind and modest and she regards him as a senior member of "her soul family". It felt pretty cool to be hanging out there- as part of Alice's posse; it was like we owned the place.

Can you spot David?

She looks fantastic and very much in her element. Congratulations again to Alice!

I'll be ordering Book I this weekend after my monthly check comes in. I wish I could have been there for the opening, to meet all of you in person and to buy a signed copy. I read an early review (I think on Amazon), and it sounds like a good read.
Once again, you have posted a great photo!

That's great. I'm so glad you're going to be getting a copy.

It's an unusual book. One that was crying out to be written, only no-one thought of doing it until Al did.

A lovely photo - so glad it went well. Ian has encouraged a bookshop in East Grinstead to order in the book for sale, so the word will continue to spread. We heard the Manchester interview with listen again and it is good, isn't it? Alice says the Leicester one was better though....
Love Jenny

Thanks. That's great about E. Grinstead.

The Manchester interview is good, but- it's true- the Leicester one is better; the interviewer was more sympathetic and gave Alice ten minutes instead of five.

hello

Hi Dad, it was Lucy Gibbs you met - no idea who julie hughes is!!!!!! Was lovely hanging out with you guys in the shop all day. Felt very comfortable. I'll have to come hangout in Manchester waterstones and you can chill with me there too!

I didn't realise Lucy knows Newton! I am probably meeting up with her for coffee or something soon, so I shall have to question her about that!

Lots of love, Alice x

Yes the bus driver played it for us- and I guess we listened through headphones. It's a very entertaining book.

O dear, I'll correct it straightaway.

It was a great afternoon.

I'd like to have had more time to talk to Lucy myself.

Much love,

Dad. XX
