1. Someone near-by is keeping chickens- presumably in a cramped, little, backyard like ours. I know because I've been hearing their rooster going cock-a-doodle-doo.
 
2. Carl once worked for the guy who was shot dead in Glodwick at the weekend; he says he painted the front door through which the bullets were fired. The murder house is just across the road from our health centre.

3. There are getting to be leaves on the ground that need to be swept up.  Ailz just waved a recipe for Christmas cake under my nose.

The family across the street has a chicken coop in their back garden. My beloved was born in Managua, Nicaragua, and says that she has felt the US sliding into third-world-nathionhood for some time. Everytime the neighbor's cock crows, C smiles and reminds me once again.

We both enjoy the sound. If she had her way, I think we would have chickens here, too.

Tell Ailz it's much too early for Christmas cake and I don't want to hear any of that.

Our neighbours also have chickens and a rooster that crows at ALL hours. There's also a turkey that is very noisy.
I find the sounds comforting in an odd sort of way.

Since it's 30ºC here still, Christmas is the furthest thing from my mind.

Chickens! Reminds me of two things -- childhood in Readville, Massachusetts (a semi-rural neighborhood in Boston), and also trips to Maine in recent years. Once again I post the tale in my own LJ.

I find it comforting to hear the rooster too. It takes me back to childhood- not that I grew up on a farm or anything, but I think because nursery stories are so full of cock-a-doodle-dos.

There was a farm down the end of the road when I was growing up. Did they have a rooster? I'm not sure, but if they did it would help explain why I find it makes me happy to hear this rooster crowing away.
