Street Party
Aug. 30th, 2009 08:56 amThe residents of Meldrum St, which backs onto ours, had a street party yesterday, complete with beer tent and bouncy castle. The first we knew of it was the sudden eruption, mid-morning, of industrial strength music. Nothing like that has ever happened round here before- and I settled my nerves by thinking, "Oh good, community spirit". We went shopping in the afternoon. When we returned the music was soppier and Ailz- whose listening post is better located than mine- said they were working a karaoke machine. The end came around 6.00. I looked out the upstairs window and saw the bouncy castle being rolled up. The silence was heavenly.
