I still don't know the plot of  Lady from Shanghai. Obviously Rita Hayworth is wicked and Everett Sloane is wicked and the other guy is wicked too- but exactly how they're shafting one another- and who exactly shot whom and why- continues to escape me.   I thought maybe this time I'd pay a little more attention to all the he said, she said business,  but when it got to the point where Welles explains everything in voiceover I was so overwhelmed- as always- by the gorgeousness of the visuals that  I couldn't take any of it in.

Thank you, flu. If it hadn't been for you, I wouldn't have been flopped in front of the TV yesterday afternoon watching Lady from Shanghai for the umpteenth time.

Is it really the most beautiful movie ever made?

Yes.  I believe so.

My throat still hurts. I had a dream I was dodging lightning bolts. Apart from the throat, I don't feel too bad- apart from being heavy-eyed from lack of sleep.

so sorry too hear you have the flu and so does Ailz. I hope you are both feeling better today.
We have been visiting this weekend and have seen Jo, Thomas, Michelle and Matthew. Also Alan, Lili and KK. It's been lovely and also tiring, so we are doing nothing much today.
We saw Matthew on Friday and had a great evening. He is now nearly a month old and is so gorgeous! Then we met Jo, Alan and family in Bristol for the day having travelodged at Swindon, Friday evening and gone by train onwards. I had a sneak preview of Jo's wedding dress which was the reason for the visit.
love Jenny x

I will see this one, too.

Hope you feel better soon. Ever see Jane Eyre with Orson Welles as Mr Rochester?

Grisby is my favorite character in the Lady from Shanghai. I love and relate to the undercurrent of apocalypse and hysteria in his personality.
