Rubbish
Waste collection round here just got more eco-friendly- and complicated. Not that I'm complaining. We now have a brown wheelie bin for glass and plastic and a green caddy for food waste- and the black box which used to be for glass and plastic is now for foil containers. Ailz and I get through very few foil containers- which, I like to think, is an index of how healthily we're eating: no readi-meals, no takewaways.
Food waste will be collected every week, but general rubbish, glass, plastic and paper only once a fortnight. Some households have been issued with green bins for garden waste, but not us. I suppose they don't think these terrace houses with their small back yards are going to generate enough. In our particular case that's a misapprehension.
On a related topic, I think Ratty the rat may have got into the kitchen the other day. Leastways, it wasn't me who dragged stuff out of the litter bin and across the floor to a gap in the units which lines up with a broken airbrick on the outside wall. I guess I'm going to have to take action.
