Signs Of Spring

The day before yesterday I was sweeping the landing  when I saw something flicker in my path.  I looked closer and saw it was a very small pair of wings throwing back the light as their owner- a newly hatched fly or flying ant- trundled from one side of the carpet to the other- like a pensioner on a zebra crossing.

And yesterday I left the back door open to let the fresh air in- and it also let in the most enormous bumblebee- who flew into the corner of the kitchen to fuss at a high window until I climbed up onto the counter to let her out.

Awwwwww bumblebees! How lovely -- I absolutely cherish that first day the sun pours in and I can throw open my windows.

If it made any sense to have a favourite insect, the bumblebee would be mine.

Yes! Isnt true spring grand? Not here yet, but the signs are there. Crocus greenery peeking out of the soil, pigeons back on the rooftops (the cat appreciates this -- he is quite a bird watcher), daytime temperatures way above freezing, nighttime temperatures MOSTLY above freezing. Hopefully it wont be long...
So glad you let the bumblebee out again...

Clearly we're a few weeks ahead of you. Our crocuses are already in bloom.

I have tender feelings towards most insects- mosquitoes and bluebottles excepted.
