Who Knows?

"So how's the literary life?" he asks.

That puts me on the defensive, but I try not to show it. "I'm not writing fiction at the moment," I say. "Just my blog."

He makes a disavowing noise. Even though he's not that much older than me he doesn't get the modern world.  In fact, not getting the modern world is part of his schtick. "Is that for the ages?" he asks.

"I don't know," I say. "I just try to write it as well as I can."

Someone else on my FL is looking up into setting up a blog where you get revenue from the ads. He might be a bit less snotty if he were aware of that possibility!

I've seen people who have a link to Paypal at the bottom of their posts. Like a collecting tin. If you've enjoyed what you've just read please make a small contribution.

Yes I have seen that. I don't solicit myself as my blog is a hobby and my readership is small and I like it that way.

I wouldn't want to have to produce material that was worth reading--which I would have to do if I were collecting money for it. GASP.

however, I might consider putting in a collection jar with a "Tell me what you want me to write about" option. Maybe a dollar a paragraph? LOL.

It might be amusing to see what I could produce on demand.

heh heh heh

My readership isn't large enough to support much commerce, though, I am afraid.

sigh.

I wish more people would put such a button on their profile, so I can tip them at will. Sometimes it is not so much a matter of soliciting, as much as it is a matter of removing obstacles between someone's impulse and your pocket. :)

"A button on their profile"? I might look into that.

Thank you for the suggestion. I've gone and done it. there's now a Paypal button on my profile page.

You write it well. Your journal continues to be one of the ones I look forward to most.

Thank you.

If any of the blogs I read does NOT deserve the description of "just" a blog, that would be yours, for sure.
It probably leaves a lot more in the reader that about 95% of what currently passes for "literature"...

Thank you.
