Date: 2008-06-29 09:26 am (UTC)-And quite litterally; every year in August there's a 4-day Viking fair in a seaside field South of Aarhus, where Viking re-enacters from around the world would gather and set up camp. I always loved it when you could see the few longboats arriving; such elegant vessels! (Most arrived by car, though, but had the common sense to park far away from the camp...)
And I suppose I was actually taught a fair few of the crafts as a kid; our parents showed us how to make simple leather work, wihttle, spin yarn with a stone and short stick, bake flatbread on a stone in a fire, make a simple bow and arrow etc...
