An Ending, A Beginning, A Carrying-on

No, I don't want to be subject to the laws of the Russian Federation- thank you all the same. They're a little more restrictive than I've been used to. I've been part of the LJ family since 2004 and been very happy there- and kept faith when others didn't- because I'm not a Russophobe- rather the opposite- but, dear current owners of LJ, you lost me when- without prior warning- you suddenly smacked a new contract down on the desk and asked me to sign it before you'd let me access my journal. Yes, I know you have Mr Putin breathing down your necks- and you have perhaps no choice but I do and I'm leaving.

That's enough looking back. Hello Dreamwidth....

any advice on finding ex-LJ people?

Putting up an announcement for your LJ-friends is a good place to start; after that I would try looking in the profiles of DW-friends for anyone you recognize over here. I know we have [personal profile] steepholm, [personal profile] shewhomust, and [personal profile] nineweaving in common, if that helps.

I feel very sad about all this but will stay put at LJ as my heart lies there...as a place where chosen family still is. As long as you cross-post at least I will still read you there as I don't sign into DW very often. I don't feel right here.

I cross-post at both sites, but I get far more comments at LJ, so that's where my blogging heart still lies, for the moment. Nice to see you here, anyway!

Indeed. I'm sure it's little more than Amber Rudd would do though, given half the chance.

Excellent! I was hoping you'd follow the transition over to DW, since I enjoy following your entries. I think a lot of us liked LJ because we were familiar with all of its different quirks and of course all the people who were still blogging there, but DW is pretty good and not that different from LJ in the fundamentals, I think.
