In The Kitchen

We had belly pork for tea. We cooked it in the slow-cooker over night, then crisped it up in the oven.

I like defrosting the fridge. Especially the bit where I get to hack away at the impacted ice like Michelangelo. Also you never quite know what you're going to find buried in the snowdrifts of the freezer compartment. Yesterday I found a bag of plums and stewed them and served them with the pork.

Which reminds me of the poem by William Carlos Williams where he eats the plums his wife (?) was saving for breakfast. I don't like it. It's much too wordy.

Im in yr fridge
Eatin yr plums.
Kool.

See, I've improved it.

I´ve always detested defrosting the fridge. The advent of frost free refrigerators was a liberation for me. But at least you found buried treasure!
:)

Your poetic improvements are kool.

Frost free refrigerators- where?

All over the world, I think.
We´ve had one for the last 10 years. It´s one of the best inventions ever.

So that's why our fridge was so cheap....

I rode by St. James, Kingsessing, today. Despite urban decay it's still a bucolic spot.

Oh, wow!

Would that all poems were so brief and to the point. I used to use anti-freeze to defrost freezers, but wouldn't recommend it too highly.

We have this chemical stuff you squirt on the ice and it's supposed to melt it. I don't believe it works.

I prefer your version!

I like Williams' work- or some of it- but not that particular piece.
