My Mother

My mother is in her mid eighties and has the enthusiasms of a child. She's so bright and cheerful. She owns all these race horses and it's like she's an eight year old who's just discovered ponies. I can't imagine being so near the end of my life and still so enthralled by the business of living.

She's beautiful.

She certainly is beautiful!
What a lovely post :-)

Thanks.

She looks much younger than her years. I am writing thsi surrounded by pics of this year's student intake (mostly 16/17 year olds) and none of them look out at the camera so boldly.

Looking at that photo with your icon next to it I can definitely see a family resemblance.

She does look younger than her years. And her hair is still its natural colour- a little dustier than it was perhaps but still unmistakeably blonde.

Wonderful! That´s the way to wind down one´s years: without seeming to.

She certainly is beautiful!

I'm wondering if I'll be able to manage it. I hope so...

[identity profile] mummm.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
I think she is absolutely wonderful! I'm going to forget about being upset that I have reached sixty. Obviously SHE is the one with the right idea about life.

You look a bit like her!

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems so effortless too. She could have dropped out of the race when my father died, but she didn't. She just kept on going.

[identity profile] mummm.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I could be like her.

[identity profile] lblanchard.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
Good for her. Enthusiasm is a wonderful thing.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

Her example suggests old age may not be such a bad thing after all.

[identity profile] amritarosa.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
And that right there is worth so very much.
Beautiful. Hope I'm like that later in life. Heck, I hope to emulate that _now_ :)

I think you've got to take it one day at a time, trusting that every single day will contain something of value.

She's beautiful

[identity profile] baritonejeff.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, she is. This post lifted my spirits.

Message received loud and clear. We've found the car tax thing and Ailz is dealing with it now. The text should be arriving on your phone any time now.

See you soon.

She's beautiful.

She is. And I can see you in her face.

(It's also just a lovely photograph, especially with the overcast light.)

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes you have to go looking for pictures, sometimes- more rarely- they present themselves. This was one of the latter.

That post and photo made me smile. :-)

The dog is pretty damn cute too.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
The dog's name is Trudie.

Awww! <3

She is beautiful ... sometimes I think the secret to aging well is simply to determine that you're going to live as though you would never die. Then you never find yourself in the trap of thinking that it's "too late" to enjoy yourself.

[identity profile] besideserato.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
She's beautiful and full of life. Thank you for posting this wonderful image.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It feels like it was given to me. I turned round and there she was.

[identity profile] jackiejj.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
She is beautiful, Tony.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. And more beautiful now than she's ever been.
