The Cake In All Its Glory

Here it is after the florist had dressed it.

Ailz says "thank you."

Yes, it was a brilliant day.

Both Ailz and the cake are gorgeous--I think the Gerber daisies are a much better choice than roses, more dramatic, and more stable (less likely to wilt). Very nicely done, and I like the greenery as well.

I LOVE Ailz's dress.

I think the florist was given a free hand- and, yes, I think roses would have been too much.

It's a pity you can't really see the hat in this photo (she's holding it in her hand but it doesn't show up.) We bought it in Paris and it complemented the dress wonderfully.

Oh, man, yes, a HAT! I didn't notice it at first, but it seems a great serious summer hat.

I don't have any decent shots of la toute ensemble. I may have to get her to dress up again so I can take some- but not today, she's too tired.

[identity profile] karenetaylor.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, a beautiful cake. And a beautiful Aliz!

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Amen to that!

[identity profile] suzilem.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Brava! to both the cake and Ailz!

I'm only sorry my sister-in-law Ruth isn't in the picture too.

Ailz looks stunning (I love the hat)!

I, too, am glad the florist chose the deep orange-y red Gerber daisies. They're lovely, and really make a statement against the ivory cake.

I've got to get a good picture of Ailz in the hat.

Yes, the daisies were a good choice. Roses would have been over the top I think.

Here it is after the florist had dressed it.

It came out beautifully. But I think it is outclassed by Ailz.

She looks great, doesn't she?

This is lovely, Tony.

Thanks.

The cake is lovely, but Ailz looks stunning. :)

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't she just!

[identity profile] lblanchard.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
The cake looks great. Funny-looking roses, though. (Seriously, I think they work better than roses would have.)

Ailz looks stunning. I wish you had a picture of her with the hat on.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the florist had a free hand. Like me she clearly couldn't visualise it working with roses.

I need to take a picture of Ailz in the hat. I've got one or two but they don't do her justice.

Oh, it looked gorgeous! Whew! :)

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it came out all right.

[identity profile] pondhopper.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
What perfect flowers for the cake and very artistically draped, too. From that angle you can't see the lean at all. I like it much better than the bakery shop kind! Well done!

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a big talking point.

And Ailz and Ruth had a lot of fun making it.

An object of beauty.

Oh, and I see there is a cake in the picture as well. A gorgeous cake! Made by two cake experts!

Lovely, thanks for posting.

All this praise...

Ailz is going to be insufferable.....:)

What a cute dress! Add mine to the gush of compliments from LJ...

My sister-in-law chose it for her.

Thanks.
