Heaton Park

Heaton Park belongs to the City of Manchester and is one of the largest urban parks in Europe. The house- Heaton Hall- was designed by James Wyatt and built in 1772.

Oh, that used to be one of my favourite places when I lived in Manchester! Do they still have the herd of Highland cattle?

Super shot of the lioness. Both the lions are so shiny from all the kids sitting on them. *g*

They still have the highland cattle- and the other rare breeds- and the donkeys...

I love the lions.

Wow. I love your photographs; they're always very evocative. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so pleased you like them.

That lioness is fantastic. She has a rather bemused expression.
Is the house used for anything these days? The wing on the right has the lower windows bricked in.

I'm not sure what's going on. The house can be toured- but not on mondays- so I haven't seen the interior. It does look very shut up. Possibly they're carrying out repairs.
