Stevie

I love Stevie Smith. Actually, that's not quite true. I love her last book Scorpion. It's my favourite poetry book of all time. But I've not properly read anything else of hers. Why? Perhaps because I'm afraid nothing else will be as good. Silly, eh? So I've just made some purchases.

I was reading Scorpion last thing last night. Smith found the thought of death comforting. So do I. How nice to know there's a way off this silly, old planet.

I love Stevie Smith too! I think I've read everything of hers, EXCEPT Scorpion -- that one doesn't sound familiar to me.

I did a presentation on Smith for an undergraduate "women in literature" class. In it, I got to read aloud some of her poetry. It was really fun.

You must know Scorpion. It was her last collection- published posthumously. If you've got a Collected Poems it'll be in there.

I was given my copy in 1974. Nearly 33 years ago- oh my!
