Winter's Afternoon

It's been a while since I was last in Oldham town centre.  It was a cold, blowy winter's afternoon and there weren't many people about. We went round the Spindles shopping centre and noticed how many empty units there are. Outside on the High Street we got jumped on by one of those new breed of charity collectors who are half way to being performance artists. I hated it. We tore ourselves away from him and made ourselves feel a little better about it by buying a copy of The Big Issue off a woman outside the Post Office.

The Big Issue has an article about how failed asylum seekers are living on the streets. They come to us from places like Somalia and Dafur, fleeing war, torture and rape and we reduce them to beggary. What a nice little country this is!

But the economic migrants we put into decent houses, give them money and even buy them a caravan..that's true, my friend rang Social Services when the cheque was given to him..it was ok

It's like it says in the Bible- "to him that hath shall be given, and from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath."
