A Correction

John McCain says Tony Blair has "sacrificed his career" by supporting the Iraq war.

No he hasn't.  Blair has stayed on and on in office,  disregarding opinion in his own party and on the streets and (unless he has to step down over corruption charges unrelated to Iraq) will depart later this year at a time of his own choosing.

After which he will travel the globe, play at being an elder statesman and rake in the appearance fees.

His career hasn't suffered in the least.

What he has sacrificed is his reputation.

What beats me is all this talk of "legacy" - as though there could be anything that Blair will be remembered for over Iraq.

Too true.

He made his bed and he's going to have to lie in it

Blair's sacrificed

What he has sacrificed is the safety of his nation and thousands of lives in Iraq, and Yugoslavia.

The deaths on 7/7 were part of his sacrifice, but what happened one day in Britain happens every day in Iraq.

Exactly.

At least it's good to know that history- which he seems to care about so much- will view him with contempt.
