After Potter

Phew, well I've never read so much in such a short time before- not even when cramming for exams (not that I ever did cram for exams)

I feel like I've spent the past week shut in a cellar.- a very nicely appointed cellar, I hasten to add. And now I don't know quite what to do with myself- which is why I'm noodling about on LJ.

It hasn't made a fan of me. Well, not an obsessive fan.  I like the characters; but I'm not attached to them. I can let them go.

My favourite characters? Harry himself, Mad Eye Moody, Luna, Lupin, Tonks.

My favourite wrong'un? Dolores Umbridge. She makes me soooo mad.

My favourite location? Grimmauld Place- with the portrait of old Mrs Black raving in the hall and Kreacher slouching about, badmouthing the filthy mudbloods and secreting horcruxes (an educated guess) in his insanitary den.

My favourite episode? Too many to choose from.

So come on, Jo; hurry up and get the Deathly Hallows into the shops.

You have certainly been on a reading marathon!

Did you even have time to feed your rabbit while this was going on?

The rabbits pretty much feed themselves. They've got a big bag of rabbit muesli lying open on the floor and they go scrabble about inside it.

June 21!
(or at least that's when Barnes & Noble say I can have my copy...reserved it this morning:)

That soon? Oh goody!

I have enjoyed reading your reviews of these books. I think I need to reread the most recent book before I read the new one coming out. I have a feeling I have forgotten some of the details.

Also, we seem to share favorite charactors, though I also have soft spot for poor Neville. A great kid who tries so hard!

I just checked with my library, and they have already started the request queue for the next book, and I signed up. I'm the fifth person in queue and it looks like they are ordering 20 books. Hazaah!

I guess we'll buy ours from the supermarket. They generally have bins full of the things and special offers and all sorts.

I read that Half Blood Prince sold more copies in the week it came out than The Da Vinci Code sold in a year.

I think Neville may do great things in the last book. He's Harry's shadow- the kid who could have been the Chosen One if things had fallen out differently.

No, not June 21 but JULY 21.
I just got a notice from amazon to preorder the book.
Thank you for the running book reviews. It was a good way to remember all the books for me. And now I think I might re-read the series before the last book comes out.

Oh dear.

Another month to wait.

Im trying to recall, without going to look, when the first book came out. Some combination of the books and the films has caused those kids to grow up, for me, in real time. They're like part of my family.

To be honest, I'm dreading the last volume -- both for the loss of two close friends and for the ending of the story. I am guessing that Rowling doesn't have another one of these in her. I'm sure I wouldn't.

She's said she won't do any more Potter books, but can't imagine not writing.

I like it that she's set herself a limit. She's an ambitious writer and doesn't want to repeat herself ad infinitum.

Heh-heh-heh...

They've set it up for distressed teenagers? I think there'll be plenty of adults wanting its services too.
