The idea was we were going wireless. I'm not quite sure what happened, but we've been off line for several days as a result of it.  And now we've moved the computer to another room and redesigned the house around it and I'm back- not wireless- but who cares?

My son Mike is here from Japan. Well, he's not here at the moment- he's in Bolton drinking in the New Year with his mates- but he'll be returning- some time around the crack of dawn- to a blow up mattress in our front room. It's good to see him again. It's been something like two years since he was last home.

If this is a little thin it's because the computer now sits shoulder to shoulder with the TV and Ailz is watching some programme about the things the celebs got up to in 2006 and I'm having to give it half my mind....

Ooh, can you believe that about David Hasselhoff?

And now she's turned it off. Oh good.

And I've remembered what I wanted to write about. I wanted to write about how they hung Saddam Hussein and George Bush slept through it and 77 people were killed in the immediate aftermath and isn't it good that Iraq is now a democracy?

Eid Mubarak!

Yeah...wireless only works when it works. Ours is pretty iffy and the signal does not reach upstairs no matter what sort of amplifier, signal booster or whatever they´re called we use.

And then there was the bombing at the Madrid airport yesterday (which had nothing to do with Saddam or Bush or Iraq) which marks the end of the cease fire by ETA.

Happy New Year, Tony.

We hoped too much. We were told the wireless signal was strong enough to serve a block, in the event it wouldn't reach between floors.

I'm feeling pretty glum about this particular new year.

That's the shakiest "democracy" ever.

I wonder if it will last till next Christmas?

Are you keeping your computer by the TV? I thought you had it in your quiet little study...sigh: it was a nice image.
