Hearing Test

 I had my hearing tested yesterday.

You sit in a box with a glass window- a sort of man-sized microwave- and press a button every time you hear a beep through the earphones you've been fitted with. 

It could almost be mistaken for fun. 

The verdict is I have a degree of hearing loss- somewhere between mild and medium; nothing unusual for my age. It's not disabling and hearing aids are not recommended....

I'm curious to have my hearing evaluated someday but it's no more than curiosity, given that I think I hear well but have some difficulty translating those sounds into speech.

Sounds remarkably similar to the peripheral vision test I had to do, except only your head goes in the box and instead of beeps it's little points of light randomly coming from all directions. Rather like watching for shooting stars.

My both grandfathers have hearing issues and I believe it is genetic. So I prepare to have hearing loss with aging.

I will resist using hearing aids for as long as I can.

Eye tests are fun.

I've worn glasses since I was 20.

Both mMy parents used hearing aids towards the end

What does it mean you’re just fine, because only grandparents will give you this genetic trouble.

My grandparents doesn't use glasses, but my father does and I don't and my son does and I believe my grandson will don't need glasses, in the future...

I think I'm the first person in my family for several generations to wear glasses from a young age.
