The day before yesterday I planted a whole lot of daffodil bulbs. Last night the fox dug several of them up again.

I guess foxes see turned earth and think, "Oooo. small creatures in burrows!"

This, it occurs to me, is one of the reasons why shallow graves are not such a good idea....

R. once told me of an incident back home where a family's dog came in with the dead body of the neighbours' rabbit in its jaws. The neighbours weren't in so, hoping to cover for their dog, the family put the rabbit's body back in the hutch in the neighbours' garden. Some hours later, there was screaming.

It turned out that the neighbours' rabbit had died and been buried in a shallow grave which the dog had found.

Yes i guess disturbed earth to a canine would be a clue that treasure lies beneath. I'm sure (s)he was quite disappointed with the prize.
