Mushrooms

I made a pasta dish last night using the field mushrooms we brought back from my mother's.

Just spaghetti, mushrooms, garlic, onion, white wine and seasoning.

The mushrooms were a revelation. They didn't taste mushroomy at all. Ailz says it's because -unlike farmed mushrooms- they weren't grown in shit.

They tasted very faintly- exquisitely- of almonds.

We had mushrooms last night that were wildcrafted, and they were SO YUMMY! I don't know the real name of them, but they are called 'chicken mushrooms' here because they are as dense as chicken meat. We have checked out some mushroom books from the library so we can do more wildcrafting on our own, but a wrong identification of a mushroom can have some scary results so we haven't done much of it yet.

I don't know what these were. My mother went for a walk round the field with her dog and brought them back with her. We trusted to her experience that they wouldn't kill us.
