Black And White

 I had a dream that was decidedly in black and white, featuring a German Jewish guy who was some sort of scientist or technician but also a poet. Nothing much was going on but there was an ethos, an ambience, a sense of time and place- and the black and white was an indication that the time wasn't now but then. Were we in Hitler's Germany? I'm not sure, but we could have been. Anyway I woke with the feeing that the central character- I got quite a good look at him- wasn't just a figment but a person who had actually lived a life....

Maybe, but there weren't any nazis in the dream....

It could have been your post that set me off on listening to various versions and then make this image. In which case you have a right to claim co-authorship.

It's a lovely song. Probably Scots, but the Irish also claim it- and with the amount of coming and going between those two countries does it really matter? Besides folk songs get altered every time a new singer takes them up.

I read that it dates to the 1600s and one story claimed it was found in the cell of a death row prisoner. No idea how true that is.
