Matters Arising

poliphilo Alice and family are renting a bungalow on Pevensey Bay with a garden gate that opens straight onto the beach.
It was windy on the beach- as it often is in Eastbourne. When I was a kid and we did British seaside holidays we used to wear things called windcheaters which did what the name implies. Are they still a thing? Yesterday I was wearing a denim jacket and it wasn't quite enough.
I've already written about the swimming dog. I'm not a doggy person, but it was rather wonderful watching him power out through the waves....
I was keeping track of the Winbledon Men's Final. It wasn't the close contest I'd been expecting. The young gun ran rings round the GOAT. I'm not warming to Alcaraz, but people keep saying what a sunny personality he has, so perhaps I shall. What I don't like about him is how he walks around with his mouth open.....
The Trump shooting was one of Those Moments. World-historical, as Thomas Carlyle would have said. This morning I watched one vid in which the guy was saying we have to ramp up the noise and Ask Questions and another in which the guy was saying we need to quieten it down and Love One Another. I'm with number two.
