Planting Without A Plan

I scraped the seeds out of a butternut squash we were prepping for a recipe and planted a few of them in a pot. Rather to my surprise they germinated- and within days had produced five healthy, fleshy looking seedlings with yards and yards- between them- of white, thread-like roots.  Yesterday I transferred them to a border where- Ailz says- they will spread and provide ground cover.

Perhaps they'll also provide us with butternut squash...

I watch our neighbours tend their garden. They have a plan. They know what they're doing. I just plonk things down in an available space and hope for the best....

Squashes tend to fruit fairly successfully.
