Twenty Years On

poliphilo In two days time I will have been writing this blog for 20 years, In that time I have gone from middle-aged to old. Blogging was a futuristic activity when I started out and now it's venerable. If I were keeping abreast of the trends I'd have a podcast by now or a YouTube channel, but I enjoy writing (it's one of my passions not one of my hobbies) and I don't t have the desire or the gifts to be a talking head.
These are interesting times. That's one of the reasons I keep on keeping on. I'm being a chronicler. I think it possible that an account of what it was like to live through these times- albeit way out on the edge of things where the big events arrive as rumours- might be of some interest to people once the dust has settled.
That ambition (is it an ambition? Yes of course it is and why not?) comes with an entourage of "ifs".
