Flickering

It's a gull. One moment it exposes the whiteness of its back and wings, then it turns head-on and disappears.
Visibility's not so good this morning. The Downs can be distinguished from the sky because they're a slightly darker shade of grey, It's raining. It's windy....
Later today I must finalise my talk on Simplicity. I shall write it in longhand in a hardback book on lined A4 paper. The book started out as a journal but those pages have been ripped out, leaving plenty of blanks and a few pages that have been used for shopping lists, word games, drafts of unsuccessful poems and notes to self. Here's someone's name, scribbled down so I wouldn't forget it. Justin Fletcher. Who on earth is Justin Fletcher?
