Historical And Cultural Change

Carbon dating on materials from the Chedworth Roman Villa in Gloucestershire has shown that the estate's owner commissioned and installed a nice new Roman-style mosaic floor in the mid fifth century- which is a couple of generations after the legions left Britain and Roman influence is supposed to have come to an end.

Two things:

It's becomong obvious that such art was still being made years after the Romans 'left'

Our local one at Viroconium (Wroxeter) was clearly a working town for decades after.
