Kafkaesque

Odd experience at the medical centre.

I went to the front desk, said I had an appointment to do a memory test and the cheerful lady told me I didn't have to book in, just go upstairs in the lift and wait. I did as told, found a notice in a windowless corridor that said Memory Assessment, sat on the chair directly under it and waited. Other people came and sat on nearby chairs; they all seemed to be having their eyes seen to by a busy young man in a blue uniform.  A woman who looked to be a doctor - no uniform, no ID badge- walked past, wished me "Good morning", returned carrying a glass of water and shut herself back in her cubbyhole. Another woman poked her head out of an adjacent cubbyhole, looked around- like a mouse peeking out of its hole, then withdrew again.   After over an hour of this I decided I had better things to do- and I really had- so I came away and did them...

Wait? Was this a dream or real life?

If the latter, why didn't you go back downstairs and harangue the cheerful lady?
