Grey Water
Jun. 30th, 2023 08:10 am The forecast said it would rain all day yesterday. It didn't. It was overcast and a little damp. There was a minute or two of drizzle after lunch.
Reservoirs are sinking, fields going brown, hosepipes have been banned- and Thames Water- the company which serves London- is pleading with government to take on its billions of pounds worth of debt.
I pour grey water from the washing-up into watering cans and distribute it to the plants that need it.
"Grey water" is a pretty phrase- like something from a fantasy novel. I picture a remote and melancholy mountain tarn, haunted by wispy, ever-mourning nymphs...
