 We had a little rain plus thunder on Sunday night, otherwise the heatwave has been unbroken (and the thunderstorm didn't lower the temperature any). Mostly I keep out of the sun and mostly I spend I've spent the time watching You Tube and most of the videos I've watched are about how the world is changing...

I was at the Meeting House yesterday. Trish and I were taking an electrician round and showing him all the work we'd like to have done. The kitchen looks like it serves a Works canteen and we need it turning into a friendlier space. Also it would be nice to have lighting in the courtyard- so we can have outdoor soirées. 

I had a dream I was a junior clergyman and about to start work in a new church as the lowliest member of a three man team. The church was Victorian gothic and the size of a cathedral. Back in the day this blog carried the legend "A Priest in Spite of Himself. I took it down because I was hoping I'd outgrown it- but I'm now thinking I should reinstate it because my priestliness keeps catching up with me and tapping me on the shoulder. The phrase comes from Kipling- it's the title of one of the stories in Rewards and Fairies- and the reluctant priest at the heart of it is Tallyrand- the Kissinger of the late 18th and early 19th centuries- a person I don't compare myself with or with whom I have any gifts in common but for whom I feel a certain unreasonable affection...
