People use bank holiday weekends to clear out their houses and gardens- as was evident this morning from the very long line of cars queuing to access the recycling centre. I was on foot with my bag of gardening waste and so got in- without let or hindrance- through the pedestrian entrance. When we tell people we live just across from the recycling centre they congratulate us...

I've been visiting the recycling centre once or twice a month for a while as I clear out the garage, but even though I have a heap of scrap metal ready to go, I decided to give this week a miss. I was more thinking of avoiding holiday traffic, but I suppose it could be busy due to people who have to work taking the opportunity for a clear out over the Bank Holiday.

However, our centre started a booking system during covid and they've continued with it. It's now nothing to do with social distancing, but I suspect they've found that making people book a slot means they can spread people out so as to avoid a queue of cars and congestion around the various bins and skips.
