A man came and took the car away. He was a small elderly man. How old exactly? Eighty-five. I imagine he tells everybody. Eighty five and still working; he's an inspiration and a reproach to us all.

I was sad to see the car go. I got quite sentimental about it. Such a nice little car! Of course I wasn't really mourning the car but a way of life. Never again will we have the sort of freedom you get from owning a set of wheels.

Still thinking about Narcissism, I came across a quote that I'll paraphrase. "Don't suppose for a moment that the Narcissist cares a button for issues of truth or untruth. All they care about is getting their own way." In connection with this I watched a minute or two of ex-PM Johnson's testimony before the Parliamentary Select Committee. I don't suppose we'll ever see a better instance of Narcissism with its back against the wall. His lies have been disposed of one by one and all he can do now is splutter.

I dreamed I was attending a political conference at which the keynote speech was a survey of the life and works of Bill Clinton- described in advance publicity as "the second most important political figure of his generation" (so who was the first?) I wasn't going to sit through that- so a friend and I skived off and went and sat by the river. At dinner I was placed across from Hillary- and I thought, "She's not so scary, just another person". she asked me a question, only I couldn't hear what she was saying. Later I skived off again and went into town to look at the architecture. Some delegate I was!

I do get attached to cars. My previous car was nothing special but it had served me well and, when I sold it, I sure wished it well and was sad to part with it, and that was with knowing I'd be moving on to buying a new one (to which I'm now similarly attached, again it is nothing special but it serves me well and I am grateful for that). I guess it's part of spending a fair bit of time being with and interacting with them.
