Famous

This follows on from the last post

And is by way of illustration.

It's a famous story. And as with all such stories it's not just cool but a call to action.

Diogenes the philosopher is living in a barrel. If he's wearing a breech cloth- and maybe he isn't- it's the only concession he makes to convention.

Along comes Alexander the Great with his retinue- all of them resplendent in their armour.

Alexander says, "Diogenes, you're amazing; Just say the word and I'll do anything for you that's within my power."

And Diogenes says, "Then please step aside, you're blocking the sun..."

Just finished reading the exhibition catalogue for the Alexander exhibition at the British Library and of course this story gets in.
