Uncoupling

The Care Home rang my sister yesterday to say they thought our mother was fading away. As it happened she and I and Ailz and Ian were in a pub down the road having lunch, with a view to visiting my mother afterwards.

We spent the afternoon with her. I've no idea if she knew we were there. We talked to her, I read some familiar bits of the Bible out loud, but my suspicion is she was far away- as, indeed, she has been for years. I thought of staying the night, making a vigil of it, but her body is strong and the final uncoupling could take a long, long time. She's still hanging on as I write.

Meanwhile for those of us still firmly attached to our bodies terrestrial life goes on...

Hugs

We had a similar experience with his old mum although she was as bright as a button right to the end and knew us both when we stayed to see her leave.

I'm glad you were nearby and could spend time with your mother. At least you were reassured that she should have a peaceful passing when the time does come.
