We had ice, we had rain, we had sleet, but it looked as though the snow would miss us. The heavy clouds were hitting the far side of the Downs then sliding along them out to sea. Friends were posting pictures of snow in Shropshire and Dorset, Les sent us a pictures of snow on the tow path of a frozen canal in Lancashire and Wendy sent us a video of snow falling thickly outside Tonbridge station just up the road from here in Kent- and we were going "Wow" and "Just look at that". Then I glanced out the window- it was after dark, around six o'clock- and the ground was white and it was coming down hard...
