poliphiloAlice is launching her new set of Tarot cards this afternoon in the bookshop at Somerset House. She'll be signing copies, doing mini-readings- all that sort of thing. We're going up to lend support and bear witness. I'm a country mouse these days- though a Londoner by birth- and I find trips to the big city exciting and didn't sleep well. The dream I remember was a mildly anxious one about trying to find my way about a big hospital/hotel while talking on the phone. I walked through an arch into what I thought was a corridor and found myself balancing on a bouncy plank that the decorators had left jutting out over a stairwell...
The Rebel Heart Tarot cards are photographic collages. Where people feature they mostly have the bodies of friends and family of the writer and artist, rendered anonymous with zoomorphic heads. I'm the Hermit and Ailz is the Nine of Pentacles. I have the head of a kingfisher (Fisher King- cool, eh?) and Ailz has the head of a pheasant.
