Planning For A Good Death
Dec. 6th, 2022 08:45 amWe were at the Death Cafe last night. The rules allow one to talk about anything one likes so long as death comes into it. Our table talked about the desirability of advance planning and making check lists for the advisement of nurses and carers (in the event of one being still breathing but unable to communicate) with items on it such as "I am a vegan so please don't feed me chicken soup". This rather goes against my happy-go-lucky attitude to all things yet to come but I think Ailz is going to stand at my shoulder and get me to draw something up.
My preferred mode of going would be to drop dead in the street. I saw a man do that once, right outside our house in Oldham. I went and fussed around him to no effect while Ailz rang for an ambulance. I don't want a long protracted death- no matter how comfortable; just show me the tunnel of light and let me fly....
Our friend Sandra came down from London for the Death Cafe- and is staying over. Having people to stay is something we haven't done in decades. Sandra is talking about setting up Death Cafes back home in Brazil.
