poliphilo My daughter interviewed Ailz and me for her new YouTube channel, Rebel Heart Tarot Talk. I was expecting to be hesitant and tongue-tied, in the event I couldn't shut up. Ailz and I make a good tag team- Virgo and Aquarius, Earth and Air.
In the evening we were at the Meeting House, waiting for a workman who didn't show up because he was on a job in Crawley and it was running late. I took the opportunity to look around and, oh, but the place looks shabby. Pipes need boxing in, redundant electrical fittings need to be removed, paintwork needs to be renewed. If it were up to me I'd put up posters, hang pictures, import some colour. But I need to rein in the Tiggerishness. Nothing gets done on impulse in Quakerism. A common mind must be sought, which means a committee reflecting on the matter and "waiting upon God" and then sending God's decision up to another committee which in turn will wait for God to tell it what to do. Besides our Meeting lacks officers. We don't have a Clerk, we don't have a Treasurer. Money doesn't seem to be a problem on a day to day basis- because of all the groups that pay to hire the premises- but is there enough in the bank to fund a programme of refurbishment? No-one seems to know.
