I was wrong to say that Johnson was in danger of serving less time in office than any British Prime Minister. I read it in a headline and neglected to check my facts. This is what comes of relying on the mainstream media.

In fact he's somewhere in the middle of the list, coming in at 35- sandwiched between Neville Chamberlain at 2 years, 248 days and the Duke of Wellington at 2 years, 320 days.

The longest serving Prime Minister was Robert Walpole (the first man to be known by that title) who served for a staggering 20 years, 314 days. between 1721 and 1742.

And shortest tenure was that of George Canning who died in office having managed 119 days in 1827.
