poliphiloI dreamed an actor was asking me to help him write a show. He had small features and huge eyes- like your standard grey ET- only more human looking. I did what no-one in the company had thought of doing and went to the library and looked up the book we were going to adapt for the stage- and noticed from a picture on the cover that it was set in the 17th century. Then I went back and said, "There are two ways we can do this; either we use modern English or we go the full John Webster." The actor and his 12 year old daughter- who looked just like him- were awfully pleased with me.
Then I went home so I could tell everybody how well I was doing. There were workmen putting in a new radiator and having a terrible time. I offered them tea. "Three cups?" I asked. "Just two," said their leader who looked like the young Sean Bean, "And you you can have one yourself provided you keep quiet."
