Dream Critique
Mar. 14th, 2022 09:17 amI dreamed I'd written a novel and given it to an older friend to critique. He handed me his assessment written in the margins of piece of newsprint, accompanied by a photograph of three people sitting at a table- one of whom I identified (but not straight away) as my first wife. He said he liked a poem I'd included- which he called "a song for singing to your sister at night"- even hinting that it might be published independently- but that the book as a whole suffered from the lack of a linear narrative. This didn't displease me because a sense of timelessness, of events happening all at once, outside of time, is exactly what I'd been after.
