Listening Out For The Sleigh Bells
We bought a couple of new beds. The salesman of the company we'd contacted was available to give us a demo in the home at yesterday lunchtime and we said he could. He pulled the fairly transparent trick of quoting us a price and when we went "Ooh er..." furrowing his brow and twiddling with his phone and then giving us a lower one. There's no harm in these games if you're wick to them- as Ailz is. I'd have paid the initial price because I'm a trusting soul. Or something....
They're jolly good beds though. Adjustable. Made to order. They should last as long as we do...
Jenny and Ian were over for lunch- which had to be pushed back an hour to accommodate the salesman. It was as much business meeting as festivity. Jenny is interfacing with the solicitor over the house sale. They went home with their car full of things to take to auction- mostly paintings.
And that is likely to be our Christmas done and dusted. We've seen and/or spoken to all the people we need to see and/or speak to- and have nothing booked for a week. I may watch a movie or two. The Guardian published a list of what its critics consider the 50 best films of 2021- and I've only seen two of them. Depending on what Amazon Prime and the BBC have to offer I'd like to improve my score...
Ailz is scrolling through a set of images of cats being catty at Christmas. She draws my attention to a cat who is climbing a Christmas tree and then to another who has batted the Baby Jesus out of the manger and curled up in his place...
