There Is A Train Of Thought Here, Honest, But It Wanders About A Bit

It's been foggy all day. I went for a quick trudge. The horses' project- which is to get the fields looking like a medieval battlefield- is coming along nicely.

I don't want to eat any more sweet stuff.

I'm not feeling Christmas this year. Some years I do, some years I don't.

My wish to see the back of Boris Johnson is tempered by the knowledge that no replacement will serve us better. (Because our system is rigged to serve the rich and powerful not thee and me.) "Put not your trust in princes," as that jolly old churchman Thomas Wolsey is supposed to have said on his deathbed- not meaning exactly what I have in mind, but the words- taken on their own- resonate....

I've just listened to a couple of carols. Medieval ones of course. They're so much jollier and earthier than Post-Reformation ones. As I've written in a comment to the friend who posted them, I sometimes think the Reformation was a thoroughly bad thing.

I don't mind the Pope getting booted out but it was a crime to sideline Our Lady...

Who was always on our side.

Correction: who IS always on our side because cancelling Her isn't going to make Her go away...

Or expunge Her words from the Very Big Book the reformers valued so much...

He hath shewed strength with his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He hath put down the mighty from their seat: and hath exalted the humble and meek.
He hath filled the hungry with good things: and the rich he hath sent empty away.

I also find Christmas hard work for reasons you're aware of.

The only reason the trinity isn't a quadrinity is that misogynist clergy couldn't bring themselves to include God the mother.........

But what would I know? I'm unitarian like many Quakers.

I left the church for various reasons- but its misogyny was one of them.
