Gerontocracy

Gerontocracy: old ideas imposed by old men. That's mainly what's on offer round the world right now. The old men may be obscenely rich or obscenely religious or both- but the main thing they want to do is suppress ideas that don't chime with their own, narrow the options available to people who are not as madly greedy and insecure as themselves- and so cement themselves into power. They only differ in style- in the accidentals of the ideologies they want to impose. Plutocracy, theocracy, whatever.... I don't see there's much to choose between them.

But the world is changing under their feet. People are waking up, raising their game. They're getting to be awfully tired of the old men....
