A Never-Ending Task
May. 15th, 2024 07:14 am Oh look, a baby starling. Very like an adult starling only fluffier....
I did some digging yesterday. There's some stuff that looks tropical with big round water-retaining leaves that has taken over a section of the garden and has been doing its best to smother everything else. When I started trying to get it out I found it had massive, brittle roots of the kind the break off leaving parts of themselves behind in the ground to ensure there'll be a next generation. Today, if the weather holds, I'll attempt to finish the job- though the nature of the plant ensures it'll never be finished- and if I'm still sround next year I'll be doing it all over again...
I'll be using a full-sized garden fork to clear out the triffid but for more precise scientific weeding Ailz has just bought me a tool which looks so like an offensive weapon that I had to assure the delivery driver I was over 18 before he'd hand it over....
