Suella Braverman, who was sacked as Home Secretary yesterday, is named after Sue Ellen Ewing from the US mega-soap Dallas. I find this both amusing and humanising. She is also a Buddhist of some sort- which I find hard to reconcile with the heartlesness of her politics.

She has been replaced by James Cleverly. What can we find out about him that is both amusing and humanising? Ah, here we are: he likes Warhammer 4000 and has a private (?) Youtube channel "dedicated to painting the games miniatures"  Thank you Wikipedia. I used to paint miniatures myself- though Warhammer was a bit too transhuman for my tastes.

Cleverly's sideways move allows David Cameron back into frontline politics as Foreign Secretary. Oh dear, I really thought we'd seen the last of him....

This thing which looks like a cheapo sentry box is known as a Hudd.

Hudds are portable shelters used by ministers conducting graveside services.  I have put that statement in the present tense because, though I've never seen one employed, this example looks to be of fairly recent manufacture and may, conceivably, still be in service. They were introduced in the 18th century for the convenience of Anglican clergymen who didn't want to get their wigs wet.

I photographed it in All Saints, Odiham. I've seen them in other churches but they're sufficienty rare to be displayed as objects of curiosity.
