Michael Moorcock
Jul. 6th, 2023 08:18 am Having YouTube bombard you with things it thinks you like can give you a distorted view of the world. Yesterday I thought it would be nice to check if Michael Moorcock was still alive and now it seems as if everybody is talking about him- and of course I know they're not....
I enjoyed Dancers at the End of Time. Other things not so much. I remember the Jerry Cornelius books getting to be pretty tedious. I was reading him back in the day when I was still trying to be some sort of orthodox Christian and he rattled my cage. Multiverse? What on earth is all that about? I think now that I latched onto him precisely because I wanted my cage to be rattled.
Moorcock may have written more words than anyone alive or dead. In his youthful prime he could knock off a novel in three days and a trilogy in a week. And he's still writing in his 80s.
He once said that he'd rather be a bad writer with big ideas than a big writer with bad ideas...
