Making Art

I'm reading Faith, Hope and Carnage- a set of conversations Between Nick Cave and Sean O'Hagan. After I'd put it aside yesterday evening this dictum occurred to me. I don't know if I agree with it but you shall have it anyway...

"You take two things you'd not normally refer to in the same breath and bang them together- and that's how you make Art".

Caterpillars

I dug up another flowerbed- this time with assistance from Mary. We found caterpillars. Mary and Wendy both snapped them with an app and got different results. Mary had them as magnificent hawk moths and Wendy had them as a tiny kind of moth that gets into your house and flits around being annoying. Mary collected six of them in a glass jar, fed them bits of her lunch and sat admiring them for the longest time. She would have liked to take them home but was persuaded they'd be better off if returned to the soil.

Ailz and I bought more bulbs the day before yesterday- lots of them- and come March I'll be planting them out in the newly dug beds.
